TextSpec.setBackground(value)

Specifies the label background color. The corresponding “getter” function is getBackground().

Parameter

value

A java.awt.Color object

Example

Chart Component Script
dataset = [["State", "Quantity"], ["NJ", 200], ["NY", 300]]; (1)
graph = new EGraph();
var elem = new IntervalElement("State", "Quantity");
var form = new LabelForm();
form.setLabel("label1");
form.setValues(['NY', 100]);
var spec = new TextSpec(); (2)
spec.setBackground(java.awt.Color(0xcccccc)); (3)
form.setTextSpec(spec); (4)
graph.addForm(form);
graph.addElement(elem);
1 See dataset to use a data block instead of an array literal.
2 Create the TextSpec object.
3 Use setBackground() to assign the color to the TextSpec.
4 Use LabelForm.setTextSpec(spec) Assign the TextSpec to the LabelForm.

TextSpecsetBackground

Script that modifies the graph or dataset properties should be placed on the Chart component itself. See Add Component Script for more information. This script has access to the Chart data and Chart API methods. Scripted Charts are not good candidates for user-modification, so you should deselect ‘Enable Ad Hoc Editing’ in the Chart Properties dialog box.

To change the property on a Chart that was previously created with the Chart Editor, use “getter” methods such as EGraph.getXTitleSpec() ① and TitleSpec.getTextSpec() ② to obtain a handle to the desired TitleSpec and TextSpec. For example:

var titlespec = graph.getXTitleSpec(); (1)
var textspec = titlespec.getTextSpec(); (2)
// Compact syntax: var textspec = graph.getXTitleSpec().getTextSpec();

textspec.setBackground(java.awt.Color(0xff0000));
